Why did we get rid of sigs?? I thought they were pretty cool cuz u could show everyone your style while just making a simple post...So why get rid of it...And also does anyone know when beta testing will be over, and this site will be up and fully running with actual avatars and labels and whatnot?

We've answered this question several times now. There quite a few reasons why we decided to get rid of them (the largest reason being the fact that they make page file sizes HUGE). You may still "show off" you're "style" in The Gallery, and we really encourage everyone to take advantage of that forum to get feedback on your work.

We do not currently have any information about the Forums testing stages, or the site's "release". I'm not sure what you mean by "Avatars" and "Labels" either.

what if you made a size restriction on the sigs? still let people have them, but keep the pages not so big?
    and only one sig?

and what happened to post count?

yeah i agree with Plan B's post

I would personally prefer not to have signatures on the forums, it doesn't seem to fit this type of forum style at all.
About post count Plan-B, click on the name of the member and you'll see, right now you have "Discussions Started 3; Comments Added 22"

It might be a good idea to include the post count beside the name here on the main forum pages, but it depends really. Do we need to see the post count, what good does it do and what are the negative sides etc?

yeah i did right after posting click my name and find my post count. but it would be nice to see it next to our names.

The point is guys (Plan-B, Neo) We're trying to do away with the small pieces such as sigs that really don't show your skill other then applying effects to some images. (for the most part). I understand where Dave is coming from in making this rule. Correct me if i'm wrong Dave but i think he trying to get everyone to move on from the typical graphics forums like GC was previously and sites like the NSL that based everything off of "sig style" and "skill lvl" (that stupid amateur, pro, etc. system that made everyone feel like crap). I think it is a much better idea to get everyone moving onto larger works of art and into developing their owns styles of art. Photoshop is a much bigger tool and there is so much more to graphic design than these sigs that we were all once so partial to.

Well the post count has the same pros and cons in my opinion. It could help new users see who contributes alot or who are "veteran" members but then it can also make some people think less of advice from people with lower post counts.

Yeah, those were my thoughts as well MPCoyote, as well as some people tend to spam a bit to get a high post count

Post count can still be found in a users profile (where users can also upload a profile picture of their choice I might add). We'll stray from posting it right in the forums simply because it is data that is not necessary, and sometimes harmful to the community. People tend to compete for high post counts in some communities, which is not something we are looking to start here. We feel that members who contribute a lot will definitely gain recognition with time in the community, but through means of just being helpful members of our society.

I know we might seem disagreeable about this subject, and I really want everyone to know that we are totally open to your feedback and suggestions. We've spent a good amount of time talking about making the forum more streamlined and community driven (as opposed to post count + signatures), and we just feel as if this is the right direction to head in for now.
