I'm a freelance graphic designer and photographer, 22 years old and married, we have a few cats as well.
I use Photoshop for web design and Illustrator for prints and such. I code all the web sites I create, nothing fancy so far but I'm interested in programming so that will hopefully change soon.
Photography is my main passion and I've been photographing for as long as I can remember, got my first SLR when I was 12 maybe but had used my parents' cameras up to that point. I use Aperture as my photo library and mostly Photoshop for color-correction etc. -

Tekimagic Jan 22nd 2008Personally use it for fun, but also freelance work. Main programs are Illustrator, Photoshop, and Dreamweaver. Also am a hired consultant for design solutions (hardware and software set-ups and all; rather fun job though since i do best job not much work after lots past summer) and teaching people programs. Also film based person so experts in both Final Cut Pro and in Premiere with advanced knowledge (but not pro) in after effects. Graphic Design as a job is actually rather boring, IMHO, as most times you are hired to crate a brochure, website, etc... but with basic designs and what clients want not you per say. I had it as a major but more work i actually do with it, the more I realize tends to be on the slow side of creativity.

the problem is that its rly hard to find a job as a graphic designer anywhere -
Tekimagic Jan 23rd 2008I wouldn't say that. with the right portfolio, and looking right place isn't that hard. also depends on one's talents, for example i am a horrible coder, i have been offered countless times to set up and create websites which would easily pay bills for months, but knowing my weakness and fact i don't like out sourcing that much i have had to decline jobs with pay over $5000 (maybe 90 hours at most) for one job that i knew how to but knew couldn't perform satisfactory job for the client. Because of honesty the guy keeps asking me everytime he fires the next guy for not completing job. Best places to search for graphic design jobs are of course cities and well-class suburbain towns. I do have a tutorial (one of many to come out once my kidney stone pain stops) on tips when freelancing.
I have been working with Photoshop, HTML and PHP for about 11 years now. I'm 25, married and have a puppy named Gracei which you can see in my photo thread.
I love to freelance using Photoshop and what they call "web 2.0" I quote the term only because many people have their own take on the term but thats a whole new thread and thats not what this thread is about. Carrying on.
I also like to play around with PHP. I find scripts that are open source and manipulate them to make them better for myself or others. You might run into me on sitepoint or digital point forums. I havent been on those sites long but dont let that fool you.
So... What's your nack?
