How many of you have TV's in your rooms? Lol i know it's random but i'm almost 16 and i've been trying to get one in my room for many many years, but my parents refuse to let me. at this point when i can drive i'm just going to bring one home, but i'm just wondering...cuz i know too many kids younger than me with tv's, tv's and gaming systems, or computers in there rooms. -

Well I'm a bit older, 22, and I live together with my wife with 3 TVs and 5 computers... but I got my first TV when I was around 8-9 — a few years after I got my own console, SNES. I think I got my first own computer around that time as well, and this was back in '94–'95.
What is the reason behind you not having a TV, do your parents don't want you to have it or is it because of the price etc? I mean I can understand that some parents don't want a computer and TV in every room in the house or such. Do you just want out statistics on when we got TVs or do you want solid arguments on why you should be able to have one?
Good luck at least =) -

I think I bought my first TV when I was just about your age, along with a surround sound system. I never was allowed to have cable/satellite in my room (that is, the one my parents paid for, I could have probably purchased one myself had I invested the money towards it), but I don't really like watching TV or anything. I just used it for gaming.
I don't think anyone really deserves the privilege until they can handle the expenses and responsibilities themselves. With so many parents out there dishing things to their kids on a silver platter, they certainly are not preparing them for society where things are not given freely all the time.
IMO (possibly not the same as your parents, mind you), I'd have a tough time saying "No" to my hypothetical child if he/she were to save up the money, demonstrate that they act responsibly & manage their time well.
Then again, I could say no just based of the "quality" of TV nowadays. I know some young people that watch channels as trivial as Disney/Nickelodeon, and it simply creates their own character (usually in a bad way). I also know older folks who watch Fox News and other big media networks, and that's just as scary! -

well i probably wouldn't put cable in it, strictly for gaming. (because we have 3 other tv's in our house, but they are the old bubble ones, no HD for my 360)
i can save up my own money
my parents don't want me to have one because we "already have 3 tv's in this house" and i know they won't buy a nice one until one of these dies.... which will be never.
again the same with a computer... "we already have one that is basically mine" well yeah, but that's not the same as my own. but i MIGHT be getting an OLD junker today which is better than nothing i suppose -

I can understand your parents, but as you say it's not the same thing. Would it be possible for your to move one of their TVs into your room — for a test period if nothing else? I have no clue, just trying to come up with ideas =)
I don't have an HD TV either, I doubt I'll be getting one within the next 2-3 years even... btw, if I had a kid that liked to play video games I probably would rather have him/her play in their own room to keep the noise down, but that totally depends on how the house plan is I suppose. -

zomg! i just found my solution. no tv. just get a computer monitor, get the cables for the xbox, hook the audio to my stero and BOOM.
