This has got to be one of the weirdest tutorials on Vector I've ever seen. You make a selection and fill it with the paint bucket? That doesn't make it a vector, you can't re-size a rasterized layer without loosing quality.

The way you explained how to use the pen tool is good, the main problem here is that you advice people to make "Paths" instead of "Shape Layers". (The icon left of the one selected on the 2nd image.) If you use Shape Layers instead the method is exactly the same, but the shape doesn't need to be made into a selection and colored — on the plus side you have a real vector that can be resized without loosing quality.

Well that's my thoughts at least, good tutorial but with one vital flaw...

Isn't a vector usually defined as a shape/image which can be resized to any size without losing quality?

The way you write tutorials is good (language, explanations), but the content of this one isn't necessarily correct. IMO :)

    Just my C&C.

Well this is more like explanation of how to use the pen tool, I just wanted to share my way of making vector stuff.

iii James iii @ You really think my language and explanations are good? I'm just a guy in the age 15 who lives in Sweden xD
so English is not my first lang.

EDIT: I haven't watched any vector tutorials so that can be the problem. When I resize it I usually fix the edge so it still keep the same quality.

Haha, We have a few people from Sweden here :P

But Fredrik does make a very good point that this is really Raster art, and not so much vector. The path you drew is a vector path, and if you were to stick with that (and simply make it a shape layer), it could be changed to any size without losing quality.

I'm writing a basic Pen tool tutorial right now, and I'll continue to create some vector technique tutorials on the main site. Hopefully those will help you take a step in the right direction! Thanks for sharing!

When it turns from the point of vector to raster, the technique can only be really referred to as "Flat Shading", aka, no lighting information on the image.

But hey! There's a bright side to this one! If it wasn't for hiw mistake, I guess I wouldn't learn the difference too :D (Not that I'm much into vectoring atm)

I think its supposed to be the style of vector art, with sharp clear simple shapes, and not a actually vector.

Ive seen brushes that are advertised as "vectors", but really its just a style.
