Interesting. Ive never had issues with the sleep function taking long to reopen. -
agent2693 Jan 20th 20081.) James: I fully back the "I built my PCs" philosophy. Rock on with your face.
As the Leggett said, Vista just isn't worth the upgrade. My brother actually downgraded from Vista to XP. Of course, his was a store bought machine running Vista basic with 512MB of RAM. Not the worst I've heard, but pretty bad.
Vista may have potential, but certainly not yet. All operating systems tend to have a rough launch, but there's not much on Vista's side that compensates for the pain it takes. Almost an injustice. -
Pseudonym Apr 1st 2008I'd stick with XP for now. Vista did add a few great features, but at the expense of others, and if you have any sort of complicated internet situation, networking issues on Vista are a nightmare. Microsoft has said that they're going to be releasing operating systems with more frequency now, so it won't be too long before the next one is out. Hopefully it will fix a few of the problems that Vista introduced, and bring back some of the better points of XP.
One good thing that Vista has done, though, is bring that glass (not gloss) look all over the internet. Can't get enough of it. I hope their next OS does it again! -

I have vista on my laptop and i have to agree with most people here, it isnt worth the price tag and it did take me a bit of getting used to.
As pseudonym stated, networking issues are a nightmare and i feel the same about it. Ive got to grips with it though and ill continue to use it but deffinetly not worth the upgrade until later in the future when microsoft give teh XP users something worth upgrading for. -

Im all for XP. Vista in my opinion seems a little too shiny, and as someone else mentioned I dont really care for its flashy skins. I dont have Vista myself, but I've heard bad storys about it. XP also has so many options if you know where to look. I have custom skins, icons, loggin screens and more, all of which are to my personal preference. The amount of software for XP is also much larger.
I dont know any reasons to get Vista. Too me it would just slow down my already turtle paced computer. -

Vista is trendy right now, everyone thinks they need it because Bill Gates told them they did. Personally, I'm on OSX. I can't see Apple releasing 10.6 and having anywhere near the problems MS has had with Vista. That said, Leopard isn't perfect but it is still a solid OS that doesn't need that much as it is. -

I just ordered a new laptop, and I was forced to order vista with it. I dont think it will be a problem though, because I will be getting 4 gb of ram with it.
As for macs: Whatever. Its preference. You cant do anything on apples, so its not like they're going to have any problems anyway. -

lol, what can I not do on this iMac that I can do on a PC?
(And don't say games, because that is exactly what doing nothing is about.) -
Pseudonym Apr 7th 2008Hey, guys. I know its not my place to moderate, but for the sake of myself and others, lets please not turn this into a Mac vs PC battle arena. Tutorial9 won't benefit from any arguing over it, nor will James, the guy who had the original question.
Sorry if I overstepping my bounds, Leggett! Just really don't want to see it go downhill from here (which is the only place that conversation ever goes). -

I wont start a Mac vs. PC flame war (they seem quite the thing these days) but yes, games are about doing nothing. lol, they're still fun!
