    Hi guys!

I'm actually considering about updating my good, old Photoshop CS2 to CS3.
Does it pay off and have you made good experiences with CS3?
I don't know if I can use the new functions although I really don't know the improvements.

Thanks for your responses already now ;-)

    Greetings,

To be completely honest, I have been using CS 3 for some time now so I can't remember much of CS 2. But CS 3 work layout (arrangement of windows) helps avoid alot of clutter while working on stuff and thats the sole reason why I changed. It may take you some time to get used too but it's worth the change.

As they say, better to keep up to date than to fall behind.

I'm really curious if they fixed the resource problems that Bridge and Version Cue have in CS2. If they did, then that would be enough for me to upgrade.

I participated in the CS3 public beta, and there were definitely improvements made. However, when the beta ended, and CS3 shipped out, I stick with CS2 to save money. It didn't do enough to streamline my workflow, and there weren't enough NEW features for me to blow a chunk of cash on the new version.

That said, it probably all depends on the work environment you're in when making a choice like this.

    Thanks for the posts.
I don't think that there are enough new features too, even if the improvements seem to be helpful. And I'm not a designer too, just learning from this and other sites. So I don't know all the features of CS2 now and I think I'll just wait.
And for me it's comfortable to work on tutorials from your site because my CS2 is on English (I'm from Austria and the German version would differ to the instructions :D). Besides I imiprove my English.

    Thank you,
    LBrother

P.S.: Keep up the great work

To me the most noticeable change between CS2 and CS3 (except from the GUI) is in the Mac version, CS2 is built for PowerPC and CS3 is universal (PowerPC and Intel). CS3 runs much smoother and faster but this probably don't mean that much to you since, as you put it yourself, you're not a designer.
(And it obviously only matters if you're on an Intel based Mac.)
