There doesn't seem to be a focus in the artwork. Your smudging and brushing looks like it might have been overdone. -
Pseudonym Jul 20th 2008I like the concept, and the way you've blended the hair into the background works really well. One small thing that might work better would be to keep the detail areas on her face clear and unaltered so that they are *noticed* better. That might mean her eyes, note, and lips. Right now my eyes aren't really drawn anywhere because the whole image is equally patterned (hence the "overdone" impression). Otherwise well done. The color palette works really well with the distortion, and for some reason that line defining her shoulder works really well for me.
