Kinda wanted to buy a DSLR, but I didn't think it was right to get one yet. I'm just starting to get into photography, so...

The zoom is kinda disappointing in this camera, but I like the quality.

    Yeah, corny... but I don't care. :D

Any tips for a beginner? :D

Well theres always this, which David mentioned a while ago:

And to get better pictures, shoot in the right mode. I have a cannon, and it effects the results dramatically. You can click the center button and choose from different modes.

Manuel-A plain shot where you get to pick your own settings. I use this for any old picture.

Digital Macro-For taking shots up close. For example, a picture of a bumblebee would only turn out good with DM. It makes things look fantastic.

Color Swap-A cool effect, but I would recamend shooting normally, then doing stuff like that in post production.

Kids and Pets-The fastest shutter speed. I use this when I'm shooting active stuff, or just for taking quick photos that I dont want blurry.

These settings are on my camera, and I would expect them to be on yours also.

And I really want a DLSR too.
