I was applying the retro curves technique to a shirt design I had in mind but I can't seem to pull off the smooth curves that flow with the diagonal lines.

    Here it is:

    Any help appreciated.

    Hmmm...

The left side looks great. It's only when it gets to the part that takes off at a 30 degree(ish) angle where things seem a bit off. It''s sort of important to try and work with 90* angles when doing these sorts of designs. When working with 90* curves, they match up with the circles really well (since 4 90 degree turns would effectively create a circle).

You kind of understand what I mean? Feel like I'm explaining this all wrong, heh.

If you do absolutely want a diagonal line though, you may need to take a different approach all together. It would involve creating a doughnut shape, and then cutting and positioning it to fit the line correctly. Here's an example of the way it might work:

Obviously this needs a bit more tweaking work to get things to appear correctly (I messed up a little on the lower curve if you look carefully), but it does do what you're looking for. If you need a deeper instruction lemme know.

Great work Pseudonym, that also keeps the width the same which it wasn't in fv's design.

Very well done Pseudonym! It certainly does take a bit more work, but the way in which you did it works very nicely. The mistake in the bottom right is hardly noticable, and could easily be fixed.
