Just wanted to know how many people on here have used AJAX? Quite a nifty piece of technology, I didnt get around to it until late last year and its something alot of web development companys are wanting! Doing my graded unit on a holiday website and its probably the perfect solution to giving novice users structured search results. Heres a little preview here.

Just want to know what your opinion is about it :) any of yous use it for portfolio websites or projects? :) Obviously AJAX can be used more than a search functionality for those who dont know!

I think AJAX has recently become big thanks to the robustness of servers, and the development of such popular web applications. In a sense though, I think some people are overusing it. AJAX certainly has it's place in a lot of different situations, and can be used for a lot of good, but I'm starting to see more and more people develop systems JUST so that they can use AJAX.

Personally, I haven't done a whole lot of work with it myself (or with javascript for that matter), but I have several friends that have made some beautiful apps with it. I'd love to use get more into it when I have the time to teach myself it.

JS doesn't like me, so naturally AJAX doesn't like me either. Its really cool, and has huge potential, but PHP is hard enough for me!

Best way to get into AJAX in my opinion is through using one of javascript libraries out there like prototype, jquery or mootools. They have sufficient documentation and demos to get started on learning how it works.
